by empowering clients to make informed choices from the best possible
design concepts, products and services; at a level of excellence
not available through other local sources. Each project is
tailored within your investment range, so the finished

Kitchens By Design is the Conejo Valley’s most trusted kitchen showroom and design
studio. Based in Westlake Village, California we have been designing beautiful
kitchens in Southern California and beyond for many years. Our designs span the
spectrum from classic and traditional to sleek and contemporary. We combine
wonderful American-made cabinetry with award-winning designs. We are committed
to fulfilling our clients’ needs, doing it well and making the process as joyful as
possible to achieve exceptional results.

Mary Mendenhall Mary Mendenhall
Mary Mendenhall CID, NKBA is Director of Designer Services for Kitchens By Design. As a Certified Interior Designer, Mary brings innovative style and flair as well as functionality to your home.

Mary’s experience in kitchen design is from the inside out. As a professional chef she understands the needs of a working kitchen, as an interior designer she adds the right ingredients to create a beautiful presentation — right down to the table you sit at. Whether you are a gourmet cook or dine out, a kitchen by Mary will truly reflect, uplift and enhance your living space.

Mary is also a noted speaker and educator as well as the 2008 President of the Central Coast Valley Chapters of the National Kitchen and Bath Association. We are very excited and proud to welcome Mary to our team!
Sharon Thomas Sharon Thomas
Sharon Thomas is an award winning designer whose work has been published in magazines such as This Old House, Sunset Magazine, Women’s Day and Colorado Homes & Lifestyles.

She has recently returned to California from Denver, Colorado where for over ten years she worked as a designer with architects, contractors and homeowners on remodels and new construction for all areas utilizing cabinetry — kitchens, baths, home offices, studies, laundries, bars and more. An earlier career as a caterer in the San Francisco Bay Area gives Sharon a unique depth of insight into the workability and efficiency of kitchens.

In her spare time, she enjoys ethnic cooking, gardening, travel, films, fiction, music, contra dancing, and hiking with her husband and their two dogs.
Karen Hernandez Karen Hernandez
Karen’s design experience began at a young age and her style and endless enthusiasm is insurmountable. She is able to create kitchens and baths that uniquely represent each client in a functional and creative way.

She has experience working with contractors, designers, architects and homeowners designing cabinetry for their homes and projects. Being able to cater to customers and accommodate their independent needs is her priority and will undoubtedly win you over.

Karen is currently continuing her education at California State University Northridge being that learning is her passion. Her hobbies include spending time with her family and husband as well as enjoying the scenery at the beach and reading.
